Strong Voice, Strong Hockey

When the Vermont Lumberjacks Elite team came into the weekend of November 28th, they were 5-2 in their last seven games, it was all business, it was all focus, and the mentality was to battle for four points over the weekend against a tough to beat Boston Jr. Rangers team. David Rosales, Co-Captain of the Elite team, knew he and his team had a tough weekend ahead of them, but David was not without the upmost support from his family, most especially the beautiful voice of his sister.

Victoria Rosales and her friend Christopher Danilich both sang the National Anthem before puck drop on Saturday November 28th.

“Singing at my brothers game was really special to me because growing up we never really had the same interests and done something together. It was fun to get to do something that involved the both of us while highlighting our talents which are two extremely different things. I'm glad that I got to support David by going to his game which is something I can't do as often now that i'm out of state for college and ultimately it brought us closer together as siblings,” Victoria said.

Both Victoria and Chris are freshmen at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam majoring in Musical Education.

“I hope to one day inspire students with music just like my past music teachers have inspired me to pursue such an amazing lifelong passion,” Victoria said.

David Rosales felt it was the perfect boost for his team, and for himself.

“The way everybody feels about hockey in this organization is the way she feels about music, so it was a really unique experience to combine the two things we love.  She’s always supported and has been proud of what I've accomplished in hockey, so it was great to support her with something she loves to do as well,” David said.

Victoria and David’s father, Mauricio Rosales, 48, is the Managing Director for the USA Hockey New England District.

“I am very proud of my kids and glad to see them following their passions, and the high degree of dedication they are devoting to their endeavors,” Mauricio said.

Mauricio and USA Hockey are proud to support the EHL and all Tier III Junior Hockey, as well as the Vermont Lumberjacks.

The Lumberjacks Elite Team is currently riding a 2 game winning streak, with a come from behind win against the Boston Jr. Rangers at home 5-4.  David Rosales contributed to the win by having an assist in the second period.  The Vermont Lumberjacks Elite are continuing to trend upwards as they are 7-3 in their last ten games.
