Mattone given Tier III Junior Hockey Honors with First Shutout, Hardy Scores his First

Vermont Lumberjacks Elite Chris Mattone earned his first shutout this season in the Lumberjacks 4-0 victory over Boston Bandits.   Mattone prevented goals on all 24 shots faced while earning his 6th win on the season.

"It feels great! Being the star of the week is exciting, and I’m honored to be named as such,” Mattone said.

Mattone is undefeated this year facing the Bandits, and he was able to tie the season series against them for the Vermont Lumberjacks Elite 3-3.

“It's always a pleasure to see your hard work pay off, but the job isn't done yet. The boys played a big part this weekend as well; we came up big when we needed it,” Mattone said.

This was the Vermont Lumberjacks final regular season matchup against the Bandits.  Other notable players from the game include Jacks Captain David Rosales, who scored his team’s second goal to put them up 2-0 in the 3rd period, and Thomas Hardy, who scored his first goal of the season putting a button on the game with just seconds to go, 4-0.

“I think the boys are pretty happy for me. I’m proud. I’ve been working hard since the first game of the year and we worked hard all 60 minutes of that game, and it was great to come up with a win,” Hardy said.
