The Vermont Lumberjacks are proud to announce that defenseman and Assistant Captain Axel Hallin (Gothenburg, Sweden) has committed to Gustavus Adolphus College (NCAA Division D-III, MIAC) for the fall of 2016.  The 5’9”, 180 pound blueliner has 3 goals and 13 assists (16 points) through 34 games of the 2015-16 season.  Hallin possesses tremendous competitiveness and determined ability – all skills that will lead to his successful transition to the NCAA college hockey game.

“The Lumberjacks organization is very proud of Axel.  The past year Axel has given our team an offensive and defensive presence on our blue line.  Axel is such a great person and has showed leadership since day one upon his arrival to Burlington.  We are proud to be associated with such a student-athlete.  Axel exemplifies a team guy and his teammates absolutely love him.  We are extremely pleased to be associated with Axel and his personnel development, commented Head Coach Doc DelCastillo.

Axel will be a noble representative of the Lumberjacks at Gustavus Adolphus College which plays in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC).  We know as an organization, Axel will be a great addition and contributor to the Gustavus hockey team and Coach Peterson.

Upon making his decision and commitment Axel Hallin said, “I am excited to announce my commitment to Gustavus Adolphus College for the upcoming school year.  I would like to thank my family, Coach Doc, the Lumberjacks organization and everyone that has supported me through my hockey career.  My junior career has been a great experience but I'm excited to start the next chapter in my life”.

“Axel’s brother (Erik Hallin) played for us two years ago and now plays for the SUNY-Canton Kangaroos.  Erik was an incredible young man that we were proud to have in our program.  We were excited when we signed Axel this year knowing his family and the type of character the Hallin family epitomizes.  Axel did not disappoint.  He earned the respect of his teammates and coaches alike and earned the Assistant Captain (A) that he has proudly worn this year in the Eastern Hockey League.  I am very proud of Axel and wish him nothing but success in both his academic and hockey pursuits, remarked Mr. Lary, owner of the Vermont Lumberjacks.

Hallin’s commitment is the first (1st) NCAA commitment from the Vermont Lumberjacks this 2015-16 season.  The Vermont Lumberjacks organization, proud members of the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), congratulates Axel Hallin on his commitment to Gustavus Adolphus College.
