As the Vermont Lumberjacks regular season is winding down, it is safe to say that this is the best season the organization has had yet. The Lumberjacks currently sit in playoff contention with a record of 20-17-8. This group worked hard to put themselves in position to try to make a strong playoff push and have shown that they are capable of beating any team in the league. Several of these players have been recognized for their outstanding efforts over the course of this 2016-17 season.

Most Valuable PlayerDom Kuziak – Since his start with the Lumberjacks Dom has grown as a player and has been voted as the Most Valuable Player. He is a two-way hockey player and is relied upon heavily in all aspects of the game. He kills penalties, excels on the power play and can see the ice well on the first line. Dom has put up 30 goals and 57 points in 45 games. He currently sits in 3rd place overall in point production in the entire Eastern Hockey League.

Outstanding Offensive PlayerNate Foster – Nate has been an offensive threat the entire season. Dom Kuziak and Nate have played together for two years making them one of the best tandem line mates in the league. His breakaway speed and the accuracy of his shot make him a threat every time he steps out on the ice. Nate has recorded 20 goals and 50 points this season and sits in 8th overall in the league.

Outstanding Defensive PlayerBen Lau – This is the second season in a row where Ben has earned this award. He is very solid on the blue line keeping the play in front of him and punishing guys for coming up his side of the ice. Most Improved PlayerRyan James – Ryan has come a long way with his time with the Lumberjacks. He plays like a veteran and promises to be a crucial player going into playoffs for the team. He brings a level of intensity and adds a huge amount of depth to the team. He is also a great team guy who supports his teammates and is the true glue in the locker room.
