Checking In on the Freshmen

BURLINGTON, VT -- As we get set to turn the calendar over to 2018, we wanted to check in on all of this year's former Lumberjacks, who are now Freshmen at their respective colleges. Below you'll find updates on the 6 Lumberjacks alumni from the 2016-17 season, who are now playing Division III college hockey.

Nate Foster – Nichols College

Former Lumberjacks forward Nate Foster has earned a roster spot with the Bison in his freshman season. The West Chazy, NY, native has dressed for 6 games so far this season and collected his first collegiate assist against Suffolk College last month.

Ryan Hill – Wisconsin River-Falls

Forward Ryan Hill earned a roster spot playing for University of Wisconsin River-Falls this season. The Falcons play their games out of the WIAC, and Hill has skated in all 14 games so far this season. The Pleasant Prairie, WI, native, has collected 7 shots on net so far this season and the Falcons will get back to work at home against Gustavus Adolphus College on January 6th.

Ryan James – Worcester State

Forward Ryan James has earned a sport on Worcester State’s roster for this season. The Lancers play their games out of the MASCAC Conference and sit in 2nd place with a 5-1-0 record in conference play. James has dressed for 11 games so far this season and scored his first collegiate goal in his first collegiate game against Johnson and Wales back in late October.

Dom Kuziak – Castleton University

Forward Dom Kuziak has earned a roster spot with the Spartans and has put together a solid freshman campaign so far, playing out of the NEHC. The Burnt Hills, NY, native, has dressed in 14 games for his team, picking up a pair of assists in the process. His first collegiate point came against Wentworth in Castleton's 7-2 victory over the Leopards.

Ben Lau - Trine University

Defensemen Ben Lau is part of 17 freshman who have earned a spot on Trine University’s roster this season. The Prospect, KY, native has dressed for 10 games so far this season and collected his first collegiate assist in the Thunder’s last game against Chatham University.

Michael Perkett – Bryn Athyn College

Defensemen Michael Perkett is putting together an impressive freshman campaign for the Lions so far this season, with 2 goals and 6 assists in 10 games. The Pittsfield, MA, native, scored his first collegiate goal in his team’s 7-1 win against Post University back in early November. The freshman collected his second multi-point game of his college career by picking up 2 assists in his team’s 8-3 win against Lebanon Valley College.
