EHL Goaltender Set to Join Corsairs this Fall

BURLINGTON, VT -- The Vermont Lumberjacks are pleased to announce that Chris Stangarone has committed to UMass Dartmouth for the Fall of 2018. Stangarone is in his first season with the Lumberjacks, and to date, he owns a record of 16-12-2 to go along with a 2.67 GAA and .915 save percentage.

"As a coach, there is nothing sweeter than seeing a player become noticeably better every day," said EHL head coach and general manager Jim Mosso. "Chris has become one of the most consistent goaltenders I've ever coached. It's no secret that that is what the college coaches are looking for. Goodluck to Chris in his college career."

Stangarone has won five of his last eight starts, and will look to be the anchor for Vermont when they take on the East Coast Wizards in the First Round of the EHL Playoffs. The native of New York took some time to reflect on his decision, and thank those who have helped him along the way.

"The Lumberjacks provided me with the tools to grow and develop as a hockey player," said Stangarone. "I am thankful to have the amount of college interest I have received, and I think UMass Dartmouth feels like my new home. I would like to thank Coach Mosso, my teammates, and my family for their support through the process."

Stangarone and the Lumberjacks have four games left before the playoffs, as they will continue wrapping up the regular season with a pair of games this weekend against the Walpole Express.
